 BRICKELL

Brickell Homes

Brickell is an urban neighborhood in Miami. A neighborhood just south of the greater Downtown Miami area. Brickell is Miami’s major financial district.

Brickell Avenue is the name given to a north–south road, formerly part of U.S. Route 1, in Miami, Florida just south of the Miami River. North of the Brickell Avenue Bridge, U.S. Route 1 is known as Biscayne Boulevard. Brickell Avenue is the main road through the Brickell financial district of Downtown Miami, and is considered a desirable address associated with business and finance. Brickell Avenue is lined mostly with high-rise office buildings. Miami Avenue and Brickell Bay Drive, west and east of Brickell Avenue respectively are lined mostly with Brickell’s high-rise residential towers.

Brickell was settled in the modern era in the mid-1800s by early pioneers, growing to become Miami’s “Millionaire’s Row” in the early 1900s after the construction of lavish mansions along Brickell Avenue by Mary Brickell. By the 1970s, office towers, hotels and apartments began replacing the historic mansions. Today, Brickell has grown to overtake the city’s historic central business district to the north, as one of the largest financial districts in the United States. With a fast-growing residential population, Brickell is one of Miami’s fastest-growing as well as its most dense neighborhood.
