Bal Harbour is a city in Miami-Dade County with a history steeped in luxury and high-end real estate. Originally named “Bay Harbor”, the city of Bal Harbour adopted its new name to reflect its access to not only Biscayne Bay but the Atlantic Ocean as well. Bal Harbour is located north of Surfside on the barrier island shared by Miami Beach. Bal Harbour is a relatively small city, but planned an built to have a wide range of real estate for those seeking South Florida waterfront living. While Bal Harbour has around half-a-dozen condos that are all up to the highest standards of luxury, Bal Harbour homes hold very high esteem among real estate enthusiasts.

Bal Harbour homes are located west of Collins Avenue and are in a small and exclusive community. Bal Harbour homes located on Biscayne Bay tend to be the most luxurious having large plots of land and incredible amount of square-footage. Bal Harbour homes can have up to nine-bedrooms and bathrooms and be up to 12,000 square feet of living space. There are limited amounts of bayfront property in Bal Harbour but there are plenty of inland properties that reach levels of luxury similar to waterfront neighbors. Inland Bal Harbour homes can have seven bedrooms and bathrooms and can have up to 7,000 square feet of living space.

Bal Harbour has a unique history in that it was one of the first planned cities in South Florida. The city gets its unique name from fusing the words “Bay” and “Atlantic” into “Bal”. Bal Harbour was designed to be a luxurious community and has put forth rules and regulations that keep the quality of life high. Bal Harbour may feel like a secluded community but it is close to attractions in neighboring communities and cities like Hollywood, Miami Beach, Bay Harbor Islands, Surfside and Sunny Isles Beach. Bal Harbour also has an extremely convenient community port which allows residents to dock their yachts or boats and provides easy access to Biscayne Bay.
